Seeking amusement? Scouting adventure? Take the weekend with great gusto and discover the eclectic entertainment our fine city has to offer. Denton will be buzzing with music, craft brews, tacos, markets, and more. But don’t fly blind! We’ve created a list based on a few events happening Thursday–Sunday to help you along your weekend journey.

Thursday, March 30

Are You Ready?
Denton, 12 PM

The Dentonite invites you to Are You Ready?, a city-wide campaign to get Denton residents registered to vote. With Voting Day (May 6th) around the corner, we’ll be posting up all over town—Oak St. Drafthouse, East Side, Lucky Lou’s, Riprocks, Cool Beans, and more—encouraging unregistered Dentonites to get involved. If you have any friends or family who are not registered and would like to be, bring them out! We’re ready. Are you ready, Denton?

Archer Team Trivia
II Charlie’s Bar & Grill, 8 PM

Archer fan? Trivia fan? Whether you’re one or the other or both, get your fix at II Charlie’s Bar & Grill. You’ll have the chance to win prizes; cash prizes will be awarded to the top three scoring teams. It’s Abby’s birthday, so if you know her (or, even if you don’t) come celebrate with trivia, $2.50 wells, and $4 tacos. Sounds like a party.

The Denton Tarantinos, Matt Grigsby, Puddin Taine
BackYard On Bell, 9 PM

Start your weekend off early with a little live music and lots of delicious cocktails at BackYard On Bell. The Denton Tarantinos bring their surf-rocker, dub-mongering selves (and melodies) to the stage. Joining the bill is singer-songwriter Matt Grigsby and funk group Puddin Taine. Bonus: There will be food trucks and homemade pizza aplenty.

Friday, March 31

Planned Parenthood Benefit House Show
Hettie Hacienda, 9 PM

Head to Hettie Hacienda for a little live music and a lot of revelry as they host a house show fundraiser for Planned Parenthood and a local coalition of Women in Science. Sunbuzzed, Hen and the Cocks, and Thin Skin are set to showcase this charitable event. It’s free entry, but donations for these organizations are greatly appreciated. It’s B.Y.O.B., y’all. Music starts around 9 PM. See event page for address.

Midway Craft House 1 Year Anniversary
Midway Craft House, 6 PM

It’s Midway Craft House’s birthday! This local beer haven is celebrating their one year anniversary with a two-day event. Along with live music, there will be free Midway Craft House (MCH) merch, free food, and a free champagne toast. On Friday, there will be a special beer tapping (6 PM), an hourly raffle for a gift card to the MCH growler bar, and Pan Ector will be out screen-printing tees. Daniel Markham and Tony Ferraro make the melodies happen on Friday; Felt & Fur and The Fool Hearts bring the tunes on Saturday. Birthday beers for everyone (over 21, of course)! FREE.

Vogue Machine, Demandite, Trusko
Taps & Caps, 7 PM

Join Lone Star Taps & Caps for a night of synths on synths on synths. Showcasing the dynamically synthesized sounds of electronic music are Vogue Machine, Demandite, and Trusko. There is a $3 cover charge for those 18–20 and a $1 cover for those 21+. Music starts at 8 PM.

Saturday, April 1

Opening Day: Denton Community Market
Denton Community Market, 9 AM

It’s finally here! The Denton Community Market returns in full Denton fashion, bringing us locally-grown food, locally-produced items, local music, and family-friendly activities. In partnership with Denton County, they’ll be hosting the 150th Anniversary of the Chisholm Trail—celebrating with Cowboy songs, roping displays, and more. So, come snag some local goods while you soak up a little Old West history. The market opens at 9 AM.

TacoFest!
Lucky Lou’s, 3 PM

Lucky Lou’s is set to host their inaugural TacoFest on Saturday. *This is not a drill. Repeat, this is not a drill.* They invite you to come out and try tacos from vendors all over the Denton area. Along with the taco vendors, there will be live music and plenty of beer. Plus, all proceeds from this event will be donated to the Denton Animal Support Foundation and to Take a Stand for Children. So, tacos and beer for a good cause? You’d be a fool not to go.

Fishboy, Googolplexia, The Monkberries, Matt from Bunnygrunt
The Bearded Monk, 9 PM

Settle into your Saturday evening with a craft beer (or growler) and live music. Passing through Denton on their March to Certain Doom Tour are Matt Harnish from Bunnygrunt and Googolplexia (aka Rob Severson’s one-man band). These kings of St. Louis will be joined by Denton’s own Fishboy. The Monkberries open. Free fun begins at 9 PM.

Dome Dwellers, Honey and Salt, Fun Button
Andy’s Bar, 9 PM

Andy’s Bar invites you to celebrate April Fools' Day with some ridiculously good tunes. Don’t be a fool by skipping this chock-full-of-talent Saturday show, featuring performances by ATX band Honey and Salt as well as Denton’s own neo-psychedelia duo Dome Dwellers and indie/garage-rock band Fun Button. Party starts around 9 PM. $5. 21+.

Sunday, April 2

Komodo Loco/East Side Food and Beer Pairing
East Side, 2 PM

It’s time for another beer pairing at East Side. This go-round, they’ll be pairing a few fine brews with tasty Asian Fusion treats from Komodo Loco. Tickets are $40 and are available via a link on the event page. Plus, you’ll get a beer before and after the pairing. Spice up your Sunday, Denton. This pairing kicks off at 2 PM.

Fund the Bus!
Audacity Brew House, 3 PM

Have you ever noticed the old school bus that is gathering dust and dirt behind Audacity Brew House? Well, this once yellow beast won’t be an eyesore for much longer. Join 7Feathers and Nice Dudes Servicing Craft as they embark on a collaborative journey called Fund the Bus! They’ve got high hopes to make this hunk of junk into a true beaut that’ll be a beacon for all things Denton—music videos, festival activities, and more! Here’s the kicker: In an effort to raise funds for this super rad project, they’re going to let you pie some of Denton’s most notorious residents in the face—including our very own Sara Button—for only $5. (The full list of people to be pied is available on the event page.) Let’s revive this bus with beers and pies!
