Happy Thanksgiving, Denton!

For those of you looking for something to do locally in little D with friends and family this weekend, you’re in luck! The family-friendly Downtown Denton Turkey Trot fundraiser is this Thanksgiving morning, followed by an equally cheerful and more ~adult~ Thanksgiving celebration ala Glittersgiving. There’s a comedy show this Friday at The Bearded Monk, as well as a night of magic and mystery at Andy’s.

The Denton Community Market is putting on their annual Holiday Market this Saturday morning, filled with tons of holiday-themed fun for families big and small. 

Whether you’re staying within city limits this weekend or traveling abroad to meet up with loved ones, we all hope you have a happy break filled with leisure, good food, and warm company.

Thursday 11/23

Third Annual Downtown Denton Turkey Trot
7 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Prepare for Thanksgiving dinner the right way; a scenic run through downtown Denton!
This Thanksgiving Thursday marks the 3rd Annual Downtown Denton Turkey Trot, a 5k run/walk hosted by the Denton Area Running Club. This year, the route begins on McKinney Avenue, runs up through TWU campus, circles back toward downtown, makes a lap around the square, and loops back up toward McKinney Ave. All proceeds from this annual event go toward the Denton Community Food Center, a vital asset to many Denton county residents in need. 

This event also boasts a kid-centric “Gobble Wobble”, a light fun run/walk around the square. 
Check-in and registration begins at 7:00am, so get there early!

Glitterbomb: Glittersgiving

Who said Thanksgiving can’t be super sexy?

The Glitterbomb team is hosting a special version of their weekly Thursday showcase entitled “Glittersgiving”, an event thrown in honor of every member of the Glitterbomb family. There’s going to be food, drinks, and lots of music to dance your tail feathers off to at 7pm, followed by special showings of both “To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar” and “Chicago”.

Friday 11/24

Bearded Monk Comedy Show

Head over to The Bearded Monk this Friday for some post-turkey laughs!
Local comedians Andrew Ruiz, Hannah Vaughan, Javoris James, Dan Danzy, and Spencer Sileo will be taking over The Bearded Monk for some much-needed comedic relief after –awkward- family conversations over Thanksgiving dinner. Grab a beer, grab a chair, and tune out to some of Denton’s best comedy acts!

‘Tis the season!

It’s officially time for the holidays, and the Denton Community Market has got you covered when it comes to getting into the holiday spirit. There’s going to be holiday-themed music played all day, lots of fun activities for kids, a scavenger hunt, and a special appearance from Santa Claus himself! As always, local shops and boutiques will be showcasing the best goods from all around Denton, making your holiday shopping a little bit easier. As always, families and dogs are encouraged to attend this outdoor event!

Andy’s is hosting a magic-filled night featuring Denton’s favorite local magician Ritchy Flo. Fellow magicians Monico and Vegas will also be performing at this event alongside electronic artist Kind Beats. Comedian and public figure Joe Coffee will be hosting the event. 
Seating begins at 8pm and the show begins soon after, so be sure to arrive early!

TANKSgiving Hangover Cure with Honest Shaun

Kick off the holiday season the right way- with music and beer!

Denton County Brewing Company is serving up a post-Thanksgiving shindig full of brews, music, and fun! Funk rhythm band Honest Shaun is going to be providing lots of groovy tunes while the DCBC team is going to be shelling out great drafts and delicious pizza all night long.

Horror Remix

Reminiscing about October? 

Dan’s Silverleaf has the horror fix you need this Sunday with a showing of Horror Remix, a 2-hour screening that packs in snippets of different obscure, classic horror films. There’s going to be blood, guts, bad acting, and lots of sexual innuendo. There’s also going to be popcorn present as well as happy hour specials all night. 
Dtxdnb Entertainment Presents: Dentonite Sessions

4 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Get your bass on!

Denton County Brewing Company is hosting a night filled with Denton drum n bass musicians in part with Dtxdnb Entertainment. Local DJs POININJA, J-TRIP, and DJ Jump will be performing the latest and greatest in dnb music. Artist James Stein will be displaying his UV acrylic art talent live at the show, and the nonprofit music/arts organization 7Feathers will also have a booth set up for the event. There will also be a small drum circle set up right outside the event area.
