North Texas Fair & Rodeo Preview

It’s that time of year again: time for Denton to get back to its country roots with the North Texas Fair & Rodeo.

This year’s fair runs from August 19th - 27th and promises more than a week of classic country fun. As always, the event will feature the musical performances, carnival rides, and rodeo activities that North Texas Fair and Rodeo regulars know and love. This year, though, fair-goers will be given a special treat: a chance to see America’s Got Talent competitor Loop Rawlins perform the gun-slinging, trick-roping, whip-cracking stunts that earned his fame. Rawlins has been slated to perform during this year’s rodeo since 2014, making this a highly-anticipated show that attendees do not want to miss.

With an exotic twist, this year also features the Bengal Tiger Encounter, an opportunity to see these big cats up close while learning more about the iconic animals.

Although fair-goers know attending the rodeo as a good time, most don’t know that it also gives back to the community. For example, the fair offers not one but two scholarships for graduating high schoolers involved in activities like FFA and FHA. The fair also benefits agriculturally-inclined youth in the area by purchasing their animals in the Denton County Livestock Show every year.

So there you have it; each ticket not only buys you a howlin’ good time but also goes to helping Texas youth and keeping the culture of the rodeo alive and well. Check out the schedule online and follow them on Facebook for more information. See y’all there!
