Guide To PRIDENTON 2018

ICYMI Denton PRIDE is happening this week, rounding out a month long celebration of the LBGTQIA+ community. It may have taken a minute, but the City of Denton has officially recognized Women’s Veterans Day, Juneteenth, and Pride Month. The theme of this years celebration is to bring focus on queer people of color, and you will see this theme threaded throughout the events.

Thursday kicks off 4 days of PRIDENTON and we have listed all the activities and events we could find to help you celebrate! If we missed one let us know, tiffany.johnson@thedentonite.com

Thursday, June 28

9 p.m. – Glitterbomb QTPOC Show – Andy’s Bar

Denton’s weekly queer variety show will be hosting night of PRIDE with a cast of POC performers! Don’t miss out on Super Queero’s and Saucy Sidekicks, a Pride Denton Event.

$5 Before 8 p.m. $7 After – 18+

Friday, June 29

7 p.m. – QT Yoga on the Square with Karma Yoga Denton – Denton Square - FREE – All Ages

Get yourself some zen with Karma Yoga for a class that's sure to leave you feeling zen and bursting with not only love for yourself but all of those around you. If you don’t feel like getting stretchy, the Denton Feminist Queer Collective will be throwing a sign making party on the square as well!

9 p.m. - Three Queens Tap Takeover and Drag Show

DAM Awarded 2018 Best Drag Queen, Kylee Fatale O’Hara hosts a drag show at Denton County Brewing Company that coincides with their Queen of the Mist tap takeover. Not only can you take in some of Denton finest Drag Queens, you can also grab a pint of Red Currant, Passion Fruit, and Mango Queen of the Mists from Martin House Brewing Company.

9:30 p.m. - Q's 1st Drag Show

Q's Cafe just had its soft opening Monday and aside from a refreshing smoothie menu and yummy fair-style, late night food menu, they are going to have all the shows and events! And their first one is a drag show this Friday! Come through and support Denton's new LGBTQ-friendly cafe! 

 

Saturday, June 30

8 a.m.-11 a.m. Denton Pride Path

From Oak St Drafthouse to Harvest House, Dentonites came come together to contribute on a collaborative art piece that will chalk the streets connecting the two establishments.

1 p.m. – PRIDENTON Rally & March – Denton Square

1 p.m. - Gather at the Square for Introduction and Speakers, this years event will feature all POC speakers

1:45 p.m.-2 p.m. – March to Harvest House & Oak Street - FREE – All Ages

2 p.m.-8p.m. – Main Events - Gender Inclusive Bathrooms at Both Venues

Harvest House – DJ, Kids’ Corner hosted by Stonewall Democrats of Denton County, Specialty Drinks, Vendor Booths

Oak Street –  PRIDENTON Pint Glasses, T-Shirts by Pan Ector

FREE – All Ages – Under 18 Need Parent/Guardian

6 p.m. - We Denton Drag It with Violet Chachki - Backyard on Bell

This is going to be crazy y’all. Three local Drag Showcases, live music, aerobatics, Three the Hardway from NY, and the QUEEN herself, Violet Chachki, Season 7 winner of Rupaul’s Drag Race. Last years event sold out, so make sure to scoop up your tickets now!

Sunday, July 1

1:30 p.m. – Salty Lady Queerlesque Brunch – Andy’s Bar

Featuring Salty Jeopardy, Drunken Trivia, Burlesque, Drag, and Comedy you will be hard pressed not to have mimosa come out your nose from laughing so hard. Soak up those Saturday night shenanigans with a bloody mary and a tasty waffle from Andys while enjoying one heck of a show.

Tickets $15-$25 – 18+

 

10 p.m. - Sinsational Sundays at Crossroads Bar

Kylee Fatale O’Hara hosts Sinsational Sundays every Sunday evening at Crossroads Bar off University! End your month of celebrations with a glamorous show featuring some stellar Denton and DFW talent and some drink specials!

Cover $5 for 18-20 Free for 21+
