Turkey Roll Preview

On Saturday, November 19th, at 7 AM, bicyclists will congregate at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton to participate in the annual (as in 34th annual) Turkey Roll Bicycle Rally. Hosted by the Denton Breakfast Kiwanis and benefiting their youth programs, the race will begin at 9 AM.

Denton Breakfast Kiwanis has a mission to “serve the Denton community through participation in and financial support of local charitable organizations and to encourage youth to engage in service activities throughout their middle school, high school, and college lives.” Founded in 1960, they’ve done that and continue to do so by sponsoring youth groups, highway clean-ups, raising money, and providing scholarships.

The Turkey Roll Bicycle Rally will feature multiple courses of varying lengths: 8, 29, 39, 52, and 68 miles (68 miles?!?!? Please don’t sign us up - we’ll just meet you at the finish line where there’s food). Speaking of food, there’ll be vendors such as Rudy’s BBQ offering snacks and other foods and swag wagons (who doesn’t love swag?). We hear there’s even going to be some chances to win over $1,000 in cash and prizes.

Registration is $30 at the event. There will be t-shirts (only guaranteed if you pre-registered). Helmets are required (safety first, y’all). It’s looking like Fall has finally found Texas and the weather should be good, but the event does proceed whether it rains or shines, so grab the family and the bicycles and spend your Saturday morning rallying for a good cause. More information can be found on the event page.
