Flatlanders Taco Company in Denton officially closed their doors on Thursday, May 4th, 2016, as confirmed by small owner and lessee John Williams.

Flatlanders began as a food truck that was out and about in the DFW and Denton areas starting in July 2013. Tyler & Ashley Hall, owners of Flatlanders Taco Company, opened their brick and mortar location that sat right across the street from Oak Street Draft House's outside patio in April 2015.

Williams is currently one and a half years into his five-year lease with the building owner and is currently looking for the right tenant to take over the defunct taco company’s space.

Although we are unsure as to why the taco shop has closed, we can guess it might have to do with foot traffic - or lack thereof. Although the space inside is aesthetically beautiful, maybe over-priced street tacos were not the right fit.. and that is okay. Denton has a plethora of amazing taco options. Start with Tortilleria La Sabrocita on Dallas Drive and work your way down McKinney Street. You’ll be just fine.

As for Flatlanders, we are not sure what is next for them. We will develop this story as more information becomes available. Stay tuned for more coverage on Denton Tacopocalypse 2016.
