What is Arts All Night?

Arts… All night? Yes, all night. Between the hours of 6 pm on Friday, April 1 and 6 am on Saturday, April 2, the Greater Denton Arts Council will host their 2nd annual Arts All Night celebration at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center that boasts ... you guessed it .. Arts All Night.

Having served the Denton community for more than 45 years, the Greater Denton Arts Council provides valuable space for local artists and art enthusiasts. The Patterson-Appleton Arts Center (the building that we all call “The GDAC”) is the arts mecca in Denton County. The building was renovated in the 1980’s and provides two large gallery spaces, an art studio, a dance rehearsal hall and sculpture garden.

Arts All Night will include live music concerts from Brave Combo and Jessie Frye, complimentary coffee all night (thank god), storytellers, dancers, karaoke, food trucks, and plenty of other fun, family-filled activities. A full schedule is listed below:


6:00 pm - Festival Hall - Happy Hour with the Vintage Jazz Society
Denton’s Vintage Jazz Society will get your evening started with some classic jazz from the 20th century.

6:00 - 8:00 pm - Craft Studio - Family Art Activities
Artists of all ages can enjoy creating fun arts and crafts projects in the Studio with Arts Council staff and volunteers.

6:00 - 9:00 pm - Meadows and Gough Galleries - Artist Demonstrations with VAST
Join artists from the Visual Art Society of Texas in the galleries as they demonstrate a variety of techniques and media.

6:00 - 10:00 pm - Festival Hall - Print Press with Norman Roscoe
Meet the artists of Norman Roscoe and take home a freshly printed artisan t-shirt to commemorate the night. T-shirts are $20 or free with a $50 or more membership or donation.

7:00 pm - Festival Hall - Gallery Performance with Denton Celtic Dancers
Kick up your heels and learn traditional Scottish dances with Denton’s Celtic Dancers. All ages are welcome to join in the fun!

7:00 pm - Meadows Gallery - Performances in the Galleries with Spiderweb Salon
Join the poets and artists of Spiderweb Salon for readings and performances inside the Meadows Gallery.

7:00 pm - Gough Gallery - Performances in the Galleries: Family Storytelling with Twice Upon A Time Storytellers
You’re never too old for bedtime stories! Join local storytellers Gene and Peggy Helmick-Richardson in the galleries for family-friendly tales and stories.

8:00 pm - Festival Hall - BRAVE COMBO
Dance the night away with the Grammy award winning Denton icons Brave Combo!

9:00 pm - Festival Hall - Gallery Performances with TWU Dance
Enjoy contemporary dance performances by students of TWU’s talented dance department.

9:00 pm - Gough Gallery - Hide & Seek Flashlight Tours
Discover the playful works of DISD elementary students by flashlight in this self-guided gallery experience for all ages!

10:00 pm - Festival Hall - Jessie Frye
Continue the late night fun with award winning Denton singer, songwriter superhero Jessie Frye.

10:00 pm – 6:00 am - East Crafts Room - DIY in the Dark
Insomniacs, discover your inner artist with DIY art projects in the studio.

11:00 pm – 1:00 am - Festival Hall - Karaoke with DJ Mark Ridlen
DJ Mark Ridlen (original Starck Club DJ/ SCARAOKE) provides the coolest karaoke in DFW. Choose your after dark debut from one of the hundreds of classic and contemporary songs provided.

1:00 am – 6:00 am - Festival Hall - Rocky Horror Picture Show marathon with a special showing of Shock Treatment presented by Alamo Drafthouse
Do the Time Warp again, and welcome the wee hours with back to back screenings of two cult classics set in DENTON. Don’t miss cult classicRocky Horror Picture Show (rated R) at 1 AM and it's rarely seen follow-up Shock Treatment (rated PG) at 3 AM. Afterward, enjoy an encore presentation of RHPS ending at dawn.


Tickets are $10 (or free to GDAC members) and can be purchased at the door. The Greater Denton Arts Council’s Patterson-Appleton  Arts Center is located at 400 East Hickory Street in Denton, TX.
