Agua Dulce Does Brunch

Agua Dulce Does Brunch

First impressions of Agua Dulce Mexican Kitchen--situated off of the square in what was formerly Sweetwater--is that it is modern, cozy, and simply cool. Tall ceilings, classic light fixtures, and adorable floral Mexican oilcloths on the tables punctuating the space make for a light, airy, pretty, and eclectic feel.

Brunch is served 11 am on 3 pm on Sundays. While the official brunch menu will not launch until sometime in February, my current pick for quality, value, and deliciousness is the hearty open-faced breakfast sandwich. This nourishing sandwich consists of a slice of cheddar bread (basically fluffy Texas toast), piled high with generous serving of bacon, flavorful jalepeno sauce, greens, two eggs, and garnished with green onions. It is served along side diced potatoes.
The drink menu features a bloody mary bar as well as mimosa flights (plum, blueberry, peach etc. flavored mimosas). My pick here is the plum mimosa ($4). But with a full bar the options, from avocado margaritas to beers on tap to moscow mules, are endless.

Other winners on the menu include the churros waffles. If you take your churros seriously, and you should, these waffles are worth it if just for the sweet tequila cream dipping sauce, which is also on point. The churro waffles are served with two standard-faire sausage patties.

Another noted favorite is the brunch burrito; the sauteed poblano mushrooms with the chorizo, potatoes is couched in the fluffiest of scrambled eggs. The steak sopes were good too. They are basically the Mexican version of an eggs benedict: fresh guacamole, pico, queso, and poached eggs.

Overall, the staff was quick and courteous and nothing but good things can be said about the kind service. When you want to grow up your breakfast taco fix, the mimosa flight and spirited and fresh brunch menu is worth a cool and relaxing Sunday brunch venture.
